Invading the village of Mathdaw in the Biu Local Government Area of Borno State on Tuesday night, members of the Boko Haram terrorists shot and killed the pastor (name withheld) who oversaw the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, also known as the EYN Church.
According to a source, the terrorists also shot the pastor’s wife, who is currently receiving care at an undisclosed facility.
The terrorists also attacked Ajiri Mafa, Njimtilo, and Pulka, but the military quickly pushed them back and killed a lot of terrorists in the process.
Around 9 kilometres from Miringa town, in the Sambisa forest, is the lonely village of Madthaw.
Apart from the pastor’s murder, there were reportedly several civilian injuries due to building demolition with livestock and food looting in the neighbourhood.
In a related event, Nigerian troops from Operation Hadin Kai stopped three attacks by terrorists from Boko Haram and the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) in the northeast of the state, killing a lot of the attackers.
Intelligence sources say that separate attacks were launched on Tuesday in Njimtilo, Pulka, and Ajiri Mafa, but the army was able to stop them, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region.
The terrorists tried to attack members of the 73 Battalion who were stationed at a vocational training facility (Morocco) before Njimtilo, near the troubled capital of Maiduguri. This led to a violent firefight between the terrorists and the soldiers.
