Tesla to Deploy Humanoid Robots for Factory Work Next Year

Elon Musk revealed on Monday that Tesla is set to introduce humanoid robots for internal use by next year, with plans to have them available for other companies by 2026.

This news comes several months after Musk announced that the rollout would begin by the end of 2024. He announced back in April that the Tesla robot Optimus is expected to start executing tasks in the factory by the end of the year and might be available commercially as early as the end of 2025.

This year, the company shared a video featuring the second generation of the bipedal robot flawlessly folding a T-shirt at the company’s facility.

Japan’s Honda and Hyundai Motor’s Boston Dynamics have been developing humanoid robots for some time now. These robots are seen as potential solutions to address labour shortages and take on repetitive, dangerous, or monotonous tasks, particularly in logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing.
