The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) has pledged its full support for the development of infrastructure and research facilities at Nigeria’s newly established African University of Aviation. The commitment includes providing all necessary intervention funds to ensure the university’s growth and development.
TETFUND’s Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, made the assurance during a meeting with the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, who led a delegation from the university on a courtesy visit to the Fund’s headquarters in Abuja.
Echono praised the minister for his dedication and determination in facilitating the institution’s establishment. He emphasised that TETFUND would provide both regular and special intervention funds, along with assistance in architectural design, to ensure the university adheres to global standards as a specialised institution.
He also assured that he would present the minister’s and the university management’s requests to TETFUND’s board, highlighting the critical role the university will play in advancing Nigeria’s aviation sector and contributing to the national economy.
In his remarks, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, expressed gratitude to Echono for his support, which he had extended even during his tenure as a permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.
Keyamo stated that the purpose of his visit was to seek additional assistance from TETFUND to facilitate the university’s relocation to its permanent site, specifically requesting support for infrastructural development.
