According to police on Saturday, a late-night shooting at an unofficial car show in a New Mexico park left three people dead and 15 injured. No one has been taken into custody.
The shooting occurred at around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, around 200 miles (120 kilometres) south of Albuquerque, near Las Cruces, where 200 people had assembled for the auto event that included races and trick driving.
According to the inquiry thus far, there was a fight between two groups of people, and the fight turned violent between the two groups. “The crossfire also injured several other people,” stated Jeremy Story, the chief of police in Las Cruces.
Ahead of Friday’s shooting, he told reporters there had been “some type of ill will between these groups.”

“A lot of unlawful activity involving the vehicles is what usually happens. Additionally, in this instance, firearms were present during the whole event,” Story stated.
The 15 injured are all in the 16–36 age range. According to fire chief Michael Daniels, seven of them were sent to hospitals in El Paso, Texas, for additional care.
From the extensive crime scene, police retrieved between 50 and 60 shot casings.
Officials stated the FBI and the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) are helping with the investigation.
At a press conference in the morning, Las Cruces Mayor Eric Enriquez said, “I want to ask the community to come together, to stand strong and united, as we try to heal and face this tragic event.”
