Three agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have been hospitalised due to gunshot wounds they suffered when armed individuals assaulted them during a raid in the Jahi region of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
According to Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, the incident happened on Thursday night when a group of NDLEA operatives, acting on intelligence and surveillance information, executed a raid on an incomplete building in the NNPC vicinity of Jahi. In the course of the raid, they seized 74 bottles of codeine, 10 litres of codeine syrup, 48 grams of tramadol at 225mg, and 4.9 kilograms of skunk, a type of cannabis, along with five Android devices.
While they were exiting the premises, the NDLEA team faced a gunfire attack. Three officers from the NDLEA who participated in the operation suffered bullet wounds: one in the rib and two others in their back and leg.

The injured personnel were initially treated at the Police Clinic located in Garki Area 1, before being moved to the National Hospital in Abuja for advanced medical care.
In response to the incident, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd), the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, expressed his gratitude to the staff at the Police Clinic for their swift assistance. He also extended thanks to the Chief Medical Director of the National Hospital, whom he contacted directly to oversee the treatment of the injured officers.
He assured them that the agency would utilise all available resources and collaborate with other security forces to catch those responsible for the assault.
