The Homicide section of the Force Criminal Investigation Dept (FCID) Abuja has been ordered by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to carry out a thorough and extensive investigation into the reported killing of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Kwara State on September 4.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, the officers implicated in the incident, specifically Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip, who are affiliated with the Department of Operations, Kwara State Command, have been detained for the investigation.
Adejobi conveyed that the Inspector-General of Police is profoundly grieved by the regrettable occurrence that resulted in the loss of a young Nigerian.
“The IGP extends his heartfelt sympathies to the deceased’s family, friends, and associates. He recognises the deep sorrow and grief brought about by this tragic incident and assures the family and the public that justice will be served,” the statement stated.
Abdulyekeen, a National Diploma 2 student of Electrical/Electronics Engineering at the institution, was purportedly killed by the police under mysterious circumstances in the Fate Area of Ilorin, the state capital.
