The Police in Katsina have arrested three teenagers for allegedly raping and drowning a 13-year-old girl in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The suspects, Mubarak Lawan,16; Anas Ibrahim, 15 and Aliyu Mika,15, were paraded on Wednesday evening by the spokesman for Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah.
SP Isah said the boys were arrested on Friday, 14 August 2020 same day the alleged crime was committed.
He further explained that the three were working on their farm when they accosted the girl, who was passing by.
He added that the boys forcefully undressed her and allegedly raped her
According to him, the deceased attempted to flee after the assault but was caught and drowned her in a nearby pond.
Her corpse was later retrieved from the pond and deposited at Danmusa General hospital.
The police spokesman said the suspects have confessed to the crime, adding that they alleged the girl came to their farm to steal fruits.
