Thuso Mbedu Makes New York Times Best Actors List (News Central TV)

Multi award winning South African Actress Thuso Mbedu has hit a new milestone in her career, ‘The Woman King’ actress has just been featured on ‘The New York Times’ 10 best actors of this year. The globally recognised American daily newspaper based in NYC placed 31 year old Thuso amongst actors like Malaysian veteran actress Michelle Yeoh, stars of hit film ‘Nope’ Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer amongst others. 

Speaking on Thuso’s performance in Sony picture’s ‘The Woman King’, a NY Times critic and podcast host, Wesley Morris said “Mbedu is awesome; He continued “The part she plays needs stamina: There’s lots of running, jumping, ducking, impaling. But Mbedu ensures that every thwack, knock and stabbing packs an emotional wallop. She doesn’t appear to be acting the battles. She’s performing the quest Nawi (her character) has embarked on”

Thuso played along a stellar cast from iconic actress Viola Davis, to British actors Lashana Lynch, John Boyega and even Nigeria’s Jimi Odukoya in an 1800s war historic epic film directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. 

Recall that following Thuso’s International Emmy nomination in 2017 and 2018, the Kwazulu-natal born actress later appeared on the 2018 Forbes Africa 30 under 30 list. Her limited series The Underground Railroad made her the first South African actress to lead an American television series and earned her the Independent Spirit Award.
