The Kano Emirates dispute hearing began at the Federal High Court complex on Court Road in Kano, with a huge security presence in and around the area.
A High Court in Kano had issued an order stopping the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law and subsequently restraining it from reinstating Muhammadu Sanusi II as the new Emir of Kano.
At the resumed hearing on Thursday, officers of the Nigeria Police Force and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) positioned their vehicles around the court to forestall a breakdown of law and order and to restrict movement.
