Tinubu Awards Scholarship to Slain Military Officers’ Children

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, conferred posthumous national awards on 17 military personnel killed in the Okuama area of Delta State, award scholarships to their children.

During the burial ceremony at the Military Cemetery, Abuja, the President declared the provision of housing facilities for surviving family members and pledged scholarships for all children of the fallen soldiers, extending up to university level education.

In a move to provide immediate assistance, he directed the prompt payment of death benefits to the families, ensuring financial support within 90 days.

The president also granted posthumous national honours to the soldiers who lost their lives, referring  to them as “patriots, brave and noble men,” emphasising that they died protecting and defending Nigeria against various threats, and assured that their sacrifices would be commemorated and respected for generations.

President Tinubu’s gestures shows the government’s commitment to honouring and supporting its servicemen and their families, particularly in times of loss and hardship.

The announcement of scholarships and benefits reflects a recognition of the enduring impact of the soldiers’ sacrifice and aims to provide tangible support to their loved ones as they navigate the aftermath of their loss.
