Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have settled for a Muslim running mate according to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Tinubu had named a Muslim from Katsina, Ibrahim Masari as placeholder running mate before the deadline set by INEC.
The former Lagos State Governor was criticised by a section of the Nigerian populace after rumours emerged he’d pick a Muslim as his Vice Presidential candidate.
The critics said Tinubu’s choice is strange considering Nigeria’s tribal and religious diversity.
Ganduje revealed Tinubu’s choice while speaking to Islamic clerics in Kano ahead of the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
“We have advised him to pick a Muslim deputy and he has agreed. A Muslim-Muslim ticket is a reality. It is not something new in Nigeria,” Ganduje was quoted as saying.
