Tinubu Lacks Political Will for Graft Probe – Katch Ononuju

Katch Ononuju (News Central TV)

Political analyst Katch Ononuju on Friday, asserted that Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu cannot be trusted because he lacks the political will to thoroughly investigate corruption allegations during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Speaking on News Central TV’s Breakfast Central on February 16, Ononuju claimed Tinubu’s failure to adequately investigate corruption contributes to the ongoing issues in the country.

“Most people do not trust Tinubu. We think he has not yet found the political will to interrogate graft allegations in the Buhari administration,” Ononuju stated.

He further criticised Tinubu for not holding individuals accountable, mentioning the alleged withholding of 29 trillion Emefiele and Buhari printed.

“And because he is unable to find the political will to interrogate and hold these people, that is why those who withheld the 29 trillion Emefiele and Buhari printed, are now using the 29 trillion to mop up any dollars in the system,” he said.

On the issue of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Godwin Emefiele, Ononuju expressed support for holding him accountable for financial operations during Buhari’s era. He believed Emefiele could provide crucial information and supported his use in the investigation.

“Emefiele should be held to confess where the money went to. If you want to find out what Buhari did, you need to follow the money. I think it will help to unearth what Buhari did. I don’t mind.

“Igbos are willing to sacrifice Emefiele. Let him go and tell Nigerians what he did. It is because they held Emefiele that these confessions are now being heard. I am 100 in support of Emefiele being used as a strategy to find out what Buhari did. There were a lot of people who defrauded the system.

“Please, people should not start talking about this. He is somebody I know one-on-one, and I have been to his place. But let them use him. I am willing to donate him to be used for the interrogation process of how money worked in Buhari’s period.

“I don’t see anything in it. For me, they cannot investigate the Buhari period without talking to Emefiele. However, Emefiele should not be treated as a stand-alone person.

Ononuju stressed that the masses would no longer tolerate government rhetoric without concrete action, particularly in response to the federal government’s proposal to collaborate with state governors to introduce state policing to address insecurity.

“We will no longer tolerate rhetoric from the government,” he emphasised.
