President Bola Tinubu has appointed Adeladan Olarinre and Mukhtar Muhammed as permanent secretaries in the Federal Civil Service to fill existing vacancies.
Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, announced the appointments in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.
Olarinre will represent Oyo State, while Muhammed will serve as the permanent secretary for the North-West geopolitical zone.
According to Olotu, the selection process was rigorous and transparent, reflecting the administration’s dedication to merit, excellence, and competence in the civil service.
“The new permanent secretaries are urged to bring wealth of their experiences and expertise to their roles, which will further strengthen the delivery of public services and support the government’s development agenda,’’ she said.

In December 2024, the Nigerian government appointed eight new permanent secretaries to the civil service, representing Abia, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Kebbi, Rivers, and Kaduna. These appointments were made to address both existing and upcoming vacancies across various states and geopolitical zones.
This follows a similar move in June 2024, when eight permanent secretaries were appointed from Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Jigawa, Ondo, Zamfara, and the Southeast and South-South regions.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to transparency, meritocracy, and professionalism in the public sector. She noted that these appointments underscore the administration’s dedication to building a competent and results-driven civil service that effectively serves the Nigerian people.
