Tinubu Names Amachree as Director of Energy Security

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree as the new Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

This appointment is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure a stable, sustainable, and secure energy supply for all Nigerians.

The newly established Energy Security Directorate within ONSA is tasked with key responsibilities such as policy coordination, infrastructure protection, data management, risk advisory, and security strategies related to the energy sector.

A statement from Zakari Mijinyawa, Head of Strategic Communications at ONSA, explains that Amachree will lead various national initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s energy security and resilience. His role will also focus on fostering community involvement to safeguard the country’s energy resources, ensuring both short- and long-term energy sustainability.

Amachree will collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, energy sector regulators, international partners, and community leaders, to implement innovative solutions to Nigeria’s energy challenges.

The statement partly reads:

“In his new role, Amachree will oversee key national energy security initiatives aimed at enhancing energy security, as well as strengthen community participation in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources to support short and long-term energy sustainability.

“As the new Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser, Amachree will work closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, regulators in the energy sector, international partners, and community leaders to implement innovative solutions to Nigeria’s current and future energy challenges.”

Amachree holds degrees in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School. His appointment has been welcomed by the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, who congratulated him on the new role.
