President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General (CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on his 59th birthday.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy, the president lauded Adeniyi’s contributions since assuming office in June 2023.
Tinubu praised Adeniyi’s leadership for driving significant progress in the NCS, including digitalising and automating operations, fostering professionalism, and boosting officers’ morale, which has enhanced performance.
“Under his guidance, the agency has exceeded revenue targets and improved trade facilitation, positively impacting the national economy,” the statement read.
The president commended the NCS for its innovative anti-smuggling measures, youth skill development initiatives, partnerships with traditional institutions, and improved communication founded on mutual respect.
Notable achievements under Adeniyi’s tenure include frequent arms and ammunition seizures and the revitalisation of the annual comptroller-general’s conference.
Tinubu wished Adeniyi continued wisdom, good health, and strength in his service to the nation.
