On Saturday, President Bola Tinubu declared his administration’s dedication to finishing the eastern rail line between Port Harcourt and Maiduguri.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said that Tinubu made this statement at an interactive meeting with leaders from the southeast during his official visit to Enugu.
“It’s still a work in progress. The President stated, “I am dedicated to resolving some of these important issues I inherited.”
The Anambra basin may store up to one billion barrels of oil and thirty billion cubic feet of gas as a national energy reserve. Tinubu pledged to promote its development.
Reiterating the Nigerian government’s commitment to Enugu, he praised state governor Peter Mbah for his progress.
“With the assistance of the gas infrastructure.” Yes, gas can be used instead of petrol. It is better to devote more time to it than to waste it.
“I am fortunate to have good governors, and we will accomplish this together.
“It’s a powerful example of what we can do as a team. I am reassured that it is not a waste for the local government and subnationals to receive extra revenue. It is for growth.
“We have dedicated leaders like Peter Mbah who are leading Enugu towards 21st-century development, elevating Enugu to new heights, and constructing our future today,” Tinubu remarked.
Mbah expressed gratitude to the President for deregulating the electrical industry and creating the South-East Development Commission.
According to him, his government wants to put Enugu among the top three states in Nigeria in terms of GDP by growing the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion in four years.
Mbah declared, “Your excellence and your credentials as a true federalist stand out brightly, and the legacies thereof will earn you resounding accolades for so long.
“Enugu State was the first sub-national to receive regulatory control over the local power market from the NERC, which is remarkable. That shows how quickly we are working towards our objectives.”
