President Bola Tinubu has approved Hon. Otito Atikase as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Ondo State Representative, to replace Victor Akinjo who was earlier nominated.
The president also approved the replacement of the NDDC’s Cross River State Representative nominee, Asi Oku Okang, with a new Cross River State Representative, Rt. Hon. Orok Otuk Duke.
According Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, “President Tinubu Amends Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Board and Management Nomination List.”
Ngelale also said the immediate past Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, was reappointed to a second term and would remain in acting capacity, pending the Senate’s confirmation of his reappointment.
On Tuesday, August 29, Tinubu approved the appointment of a new Board and Management team of the Niger Delta Development Commission which took immediate effect.
His spokesman said the President expected the new board and management team to improve NDDC service delivery in line with his Renewed Hope agenda.
Some protesters however, rejected the appointments, saying the nominees worked against the president ahead of 2023 Presidential polls.
In Ondo, some members of the ruling APC likened the appointment of Akinjo to “monkey dey work, baboon dey chop”.
