The All Progressives Congress (APC) will inaugurate the Women Presidential Campaign Team on Monday as it intensifies campaigns and preparations towards the Presidential election in February 2023.
Aisha Buhari, the first lady, was last week named as the chief patron of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Team’s women’s wing.
The wives of the vice presidential candidate, Nana Shettima, and the presidential candidate, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will serve as chairman and co-chairman, respectively. Tinubu is a three-term senator from Lagos Central.
The official inauguration of the members of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team’s various committees will take place at the Presidential Villa, according to the organising committee.
According to party insider sources, the women’s campaign team will have some autonomy, plan its own events, and engage in activities at the national, zonal, and state levels.
“Efforts are also reportedly ongoing to rally the thousands of women-focused support groups affiliated with the APC for a nationwide mass mobilisation project,” a party source said.
Positive responses have been received from all throughout the nation following the introduction of the women’s campaign team.
The APC’s women’s campaign team, which consists of over 1,200 women recruited from throughout the nation, further strengthens the party’s reputation for gender equality as it is the only major political party to be running a female candidate for governor in the 2023 election cycle.
This is coming after Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, led a solidarity rally in support of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
