President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the National Assembly to deliberate on and approve a budget proposal of N1.481 trillion for Rivers State for the 2025 fiscal year.
The president’s request was presented in a letter read aloud by House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during Thursday’s plenary session.

This development comes as Rivers State continues to grapple with a deepening political crisis, which has disrupted regular legislative functions and delayed the budgetary process.
Earlier, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state and installed a sole administrator to oversee governance. The drastic measure followed the ongoing feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
