The Nigerian National Assembly’s joint assembly will hear President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 budget on Tuesday, December 17.
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, revealed this at Thursday’s plenary session.
The budget presentation will be held in the House of Representatives’ chamber, Akpabio declared.
Last Tuesday, President Tinubu transmitted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper for 2025–2027 to the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The MTEF/FSP materials must be reviewed by the Senate Committee on Finance, National Planning, and Economic Affairs, which has been given a week to do so.
Key MTEF/FSP criteria include a benchmark oil price of $75 per barrel, a daily oil production of 2.06 million barrels, a target GDP growth rate of 6.4%, and an exchange rate of N1,400 to $1.
These numbers are the foundation for the proposed N47.9 trillion 2025 budget, which will be reviewed and approved.
