Reports indicate that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has rejected a flyer purportedly from the office of one of his wives, Mrs. Ngozi Adeleke, welcoming Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to the state. Adeleke labelled the flyer as fake and emphasised that the question of who holds the title of First Lady of Osun State should not be subject to debate. He clarified that there was no conflict regarding which of his wives would host the visiting First Lady.
Two different flyers, one by Mrs. Titilola Adeleke and the other by Ngozi Adeleke, welcoming Senator Oluremi Tinubu, circulated online following a press statement announcing the visit signed by Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr Kolapo Alimi.
To clarify the situation, Osun State spokesperson Olawale Rasheed confirmed that Titilola Adeleke is indeed the First Lady of the state and will receive Senator Oluremi Tinubu during her visit.
Rasheed declared the flyer from Ngozi Adeleke’s office as fake and disclosed that the individual responsible for its creation had been apprehended. He stressed that Ngozi Adeleke did not authorise any flyer and accused those responsible of attempting to sow discord and cause confusion.
The statement read, “The attention of Mr Governor has been drawn to fake news in circulation about conflict over who among the Governor’s two wives is to host the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on her official visit to the State tomorrow.
“For clarification, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun State, is officially hosting the First Lady of the Republic tomorrow in line with the directive of Mr Governor. There is no confusion on this official position.
“The state government under Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to receive the First Lady and her team in Osun State.”
