Stellenbosch FC kept their CAF Confederation Cup campaign alive with a dramatic 1-0 win over Desportivo Lunda Sul in Angola on Sunday. Devon Titus’s 89th-minute goal earned the South African side their first Group B points after two defeats.
This victory puts Stellenbosch back in contention for a top-two finish and a quarter-final spot. They will face Lunda Sul again at home in January, with another win crucial to their progression.
Elsewhere, Nigerian side Enyimba suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Mozambique’s Black Bulls in Group D, leaving the former CAF champions at the bottom of their group. Fidel de Sousa and Ayuba Abubakar added to Rume Akporoh’s opener in Maputo to seal a dominant win for the Bulls.
In Group A, Kibu Denis delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice as Tanzania’s Simba came from behind to defeat three-time Confederation Cup winners CS Sfaxien 2-1 in Dar es Salaam. Denis’s second strike came in the ninth minute of added time.
Meanwhile, Orapa United of Botswana played out their second consecutive 0-0 draw in Group C, this time against Senegal’s Jaraaf in Francistown.
