Tomas Trucha unveiled as AFC Leopards new coach

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side AFC Leopards have confirmed Tomas Trucha as their new head coach going into the new season.

“AFC Leopards are pleased to announce Thomas Trucha as our new head coach,” the club confirmed on their social media pages.

“The 47-year-old Czech Republic national is a Uefa PRO licensed coach. He will be assisted by Anthony Kimani who resumes his position after serving on a caretaker capacity.

“Join us in welcoming our newest member of the technical bench.”

AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda also welcomed the new coach.

“We wanted an experienced hand in the technical bench and Trucha is our best choice.

“We will give him all the support he needs to make sure that he succeeds because our main target for the season is to make sure that we start winning titles.”

The Czech Republic tactician has officially taken charge of AFC Leopards, and will have Anthony Kimani as his assistant.

Trucha takes over from Rwandese coach Casa Mbungo, and his immediate target will be to lead the team to success especially in the league where they last won the league in 1998.

AFC Leopards league rivals, Gor Mahia have been dominant in the league, winning the last four titles consecutively. AFC Leopards are also without a Mashemeji Derby win against Gor Mahia since 2016.

Ingwe, will start their new KPL campaign on November 20 at home against Western Stima, before going up against league debutants Bidco United.
