Too Little Too Late for Simba as Kaizer Chiefs Progress

Kaizer Chiefs have progressed to the semifinal in their first ever CAF Champions League outing after overcoming a total domination by SC Simba of Tanzania.

Chiefs went into the encounter sure that avoiding a 5-0 loss will ensure their progression to the semifinal of the competition.

Amakhosi were known to have struggled with goal scoring all season but put four past their Tanzanian opponents in South Africa in the first leg.

The job wasn’t done, and Simba proved strong enough to inflict just as great damage on them as they aimed 33 shots against Kaizer Chiefs’ 8. The Msibanzi scored three times but failed to find a fourth to level up and the fifth to take the tie beyond their opposition.

Simba, like Kaizer Chiefs have enjoyed a fairy tale run this season but won’t be playing in the semifinal which is scheduled to hold in June.

Chiefs will face Wydad Casablanca in the next round after the Moroccans saw off MC Algers 1-0 to win 2-1 on aggregate.
