As reports of violent fights during the protest of Yoruba Nation agitators surfaced, heavy traffic surged in the Ojota neighborhood of Lagos.
According to some workers and dealers who use the Ojota route to travel to their various workplaces, the riot has left them stranded at home.
There was a shooting between the police and the OPC members, and as of the time of this report, two OPC members had been killed.
Due to the shooting deaths of two of his people, One Sauti Igboro vowed to backfire. He reportedly made a threat to set fire to nearby gas stations and vehicles.
The riot may have been sparked by a voice message purportedly from Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho, who urged other agitators to show up in large numbers on 9th Monday to inform the public of what was happening and to demonstrate that the Yoruba people were no longer interested in being a part of Nigeria.
The Ojota should not be avoided until there is peace again in the region, anyone traveling through the route has been warned.
In the meantime, Ojota is now peaceful as officers from the Rapid Response Squad, OP-MESA, and other police divisions are completely on the scene, according to an update posted on Jubril Gawat’s official Twitter account.
Gawat in the tweet post said, ‘’Update; Ojota is calm, the Rapid Response Squad Lagos 767, Taskforce 112, OP-MESA and other police divisions are fully on ground. People are going about their normal duty. All clear.’’
