In a devastating incident, a Ugandan military helicopter gunship crashed into a residence in the western Ntoroko district, resulting in the tragic loss of the entire crew and one individual inside the house, as confirmed by army spokesman Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye.
The cause of the crash, which occurred near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday, remains unclear.
The Ugandan army has been actively engaged in airstrikes against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a group linked to the Islamic State, responsible for numerous attacks in the Ntoroko region.
President Yoweri Museveni, responding to the situation, has urged the activation of paramilitary local defence units to provide additional support to the army in its efforts to combat the militants.
