Tragic Gas Explosion Rocks Kenya, Claiming Three Lives

A devastating gas explosion has shaken the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. At least three lives were lost and nearly 300 people were injured in the tragic incident. The accident happened in the Embakasi district around 23:30, triggering a massive fire when a gas-carrying truck exploded, causing extensive damage to residences, businesses, and vehicles.

Initial reports suggested the explosion occurred at a gas plant, but investigations are still underway to determine the exact cause of this tragic incident. Embakasi police chief Wesley Kimeto mentioned that among the casualties was a child, emphasising the possibility of the death toll rising.

The Kenya Red Cross responded swiftly to the emergency, transporting 271 individuals to hospitals and providing on-site treatment to 27 others. Witnesses described feeling tremors immediately after the blast, reflecting the sheer impact of the explosion.

Many of the injuries reported are related to inhalation, with approximately 25 children among the victims. The Kenya Red Cross, through social media, updated the public on their tireless efforts to battle the flames, while the government spokesman, Mr. Mwaura, assured that the blast scene was secured and a command centre had been established to coordinate ongoing rescue operations.

As the nation grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event, our thoughts and prayers go out to the affected families, and we stand united in support of the ongoing rescue efforts in Nairobi.
