South African comedian Trevor Noah is set to host the Grammy Awards for the fourth consecutive year. The acclaimed author will showcase his talents at the 66th GRAMMY Awards on February 4, 2024.
The U.S. Recording Academy, which announced the news on Thursday, praised Noah for seamlessly combining humour with a profound appreciation for music. His previous hosting performances have garnered admiration from both the live audience and viewers at home.
The Grammy Awards, accolades determined by peers, involve voting by the Recording Academy’s membership of music creators. U.S. R&B star Size leads the 2024 nominations with an impressive nine nods. Her revenge anthem “Kill Bill,” transformed into an R&B ballad, has earned nominations for record of the year, song of the year, and best R&B performance. Additionally, “SOS” is in the running for album of the year and best progressive R&B album. This marks the second time SZA has been nominated for record, album, and song in the same year.
A notable highlight of the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards is the introduction of a new category, awarding a gramophone for the best African music performance. Rising artists such as Nigerians Ayra Starr and ASAKE, along with South African Tyla, will compete against global megastars Burna Boy and Davido in this historic category.
Phoebe Bridgers follows with the second-highest number of nominations, totaling seven, six of which are shared with her band boygenius. Other artists with six nominations include Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Brandy Clark, Jon Batiste, and producer Jack Antonoff.
The 2024 Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+ on February 4, airing from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
