South African Satirist Trevor Noah, host of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, is leaving the program after hosting it for seven years.
Noah has been hosting The Daily Show since 2015, after Jon Stewart’s exit.
“We have laughed together, we have cried together. But after seven years, I feel like it’s time,” Noah told his audience late on Thursday.
The Daily Show shared a clip of Noah’s farewell on social media.
The comedian stated that he wanted to spend more time on stand-up comedy.
“I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road. Stand-up was done, and when I got back out there again, I realised that there’s another part of my life that I want to carry on exploring,” he added.
He rounded up by appreciating his viewers as his studio audience gave a standing ovation.
The new host is yet to be announced, Noah is yet to state his exact date of departure.
