Tribunal to Deliver Judgement in Atiku, Obi’s Case Against Tinubu on Sep. 6

The Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal in Nigeria will on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, rule on the petitions against Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election lead, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

On March 1, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the presidential election.

However, top contenders, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, challenged the outcome of the polls, and filed a petition against Tinubu.

Chairman of the five-member panel of the court, Haruna Tsammani, announced at the Appeal Court, that the tribunal had reserved its judgement, and that a date would be made known to concerned persons in due time.

Chief Registrar Umar Bangari Esq on Monday, confirmed the new date to be Wednesday 6 September, following a unanimous agreement by the five-member panel of the Tribunal,

According to the Chief Registrar, media coverage of the proceedings will be allowed for only accredited media houses.
