Troops Intercept Notorious Kidnap Kingpins in Operations

Nigerian Troops Neutralise 86, Arrest 101 Terrorists

Nigerian Army troops engaged in counter-terrorism operations across several states have successfully intercepted and foiled the activities of notorious kidnap kingpins, dealing a significant blow to regional criminal networks.

In Anambra State, patrols intercepted and apprehended two suspected members of IPOB/ESN, Ifeanyi Godwin and Uche Onuoha, in a Toyota Highlander SUV at Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area. The suspects were found in possession of two pump-action rifles, 41 rounds of ammunition, a handheld communication radio, and fetish items. Investigations revealed their involvement in criminal activities, with Godwin allegedly using funds from a motel he owned for IPOB/ESN operations.

Meanwhile, in Oyo State, troops acting on credible intelligence raided the residence of suspected kidnapping kingpin Bello Chikidawoje in Bodija, Ibadan North Local Government Area. The operation uncovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition magazines concealed in an animal cage, and additional rounds. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Chikidawoje and dismantle his criminal network.

In Katsina State, troops responded swiftly to a distress call regarding terrorists obstructing a road in Ruma Yargamji, Batsari. The timely intervention forced the terrorists to flee, leaving behind three empty AK-47 magazines along their escape route.

Further in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops acted on intelligence indicating terrorists were planning an attack on commuters returning from a village market. They engaged the terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of one assailant and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. Their decisive action preempted an imminent attack and disrupted the terrorists’ plans.

The Nigerian Army highlighted these operations as testament to its commitment to combating criminal elements and ensuring community safety nationwide. They urged continued support from all Nigerians to bolster operational effectiveness.
