Troops from the Three Division Nigerian Army and Operation Safe Haven successfully rescued three septuagenarians, along with 15 other victims, from a kidnappers’ hideout during a coordinated offensive operation along the borders of Taraba and Plateau States.
Major Samson Zhakom, Information Officer for Operation Safe Haven, informed journalists at the operation’s headquarters in Jos that the rescued individuals have been safely reunited with their families after being profiled and documented by the relevant authorities.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of several criminals and the seizure of dangerous weapons, including firearms and ammunition.
Additionally, troops from Sector Five, involved in the Golden Peace Operations, captured five bandits at a criminal hideout in Tarangol, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Items recovered from the criminals included fabricated rifles, 7.62mm special rounds, cartridges, and daggers.
In a separate incident, troops intercepted bandits in the Jannaret area of Mangu Local Government Area while they were attempting to carry out criminal activities.
The apprehended suspects are set to be handed over to the relevant authorities for prosecution, with investigations ongoing.
