Troops Rescue Six Kidnapped Victims in Nigeria’s Northwest


The troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) have rescued six victims of kidnapping flowing intensified operations against the marauding bandits in the Northwest states.

The troops recovered equipment in Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto states respectively following actionable intelligence report on August, 5 2023 over the massing up of armed bandits at Gidan Jaja of Zurmi LGA in Zamfara state.

The troops of the OPHD deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Zurmi immediately mobilised for a fighting patrol to the general area in order to dislodge the bandits.

Troops’ made contact with the fleeing bandits, and neutralised them, while others fled to vicinity with possible gunshots wounds. Eleven Operational Motorcycles were captured from the fleeing bandits.

In a similar operation, troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Anka in Zamfara state rescued 4 kidnapped victims at the early hours (4am) of August, 5 2023. 

This was achieved following credible intelligence from residents that several persons were kidnapped at Gangamai village in Gwashi District of Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara state. 

Men from the Nigerian army immediately mobilised to the village, the bandits fled and abandoned their victims.  

Also troops of FOB Bini while on patrol rescued 2 kidnapped victims who were abandoned by marauding bandits and fled on sighting troops. All the rescued captives have been successfully reunited with their families.
