Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he would concede if Tuesday’s election is “fair” but expressed doubts about the security of electronic voting machines. After voting in Florida, Trump told reporters that while he’d be the first to acknowledge a fair loss, he worries that electronic systems compromise transparency.
Wearing his signature red “Make America Great Again” cap, Trump argued that paper ballots would ensure a swifter, more reliable result. “They spend all this money on machines… If they would use paper ballots, voter ID, proof of citizenship, and one-day voting, it would all be over by 10 o’clock in the evening. It’s crazy,” he claimed.
He further suggested that watermarking paper ballots would safeguard against tampering, calling it a more sophisticated solution than current electronic options.
Asked about potential unrest after the election, Trump dismissed concerns, asserting, “My supporters are not violent people.” He declined to call directly for calm, adding, “There’ll be no violence.”
