Trump Threatens to Prosecute Google Over 'Bad' Coverage in Search Results

Donald Trump has accused Google of deliberately showing negative stories about him, vowing to prosecute the tech giant if he returns to the White House. In a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump claimed without evidence that the search engine only displays favourable articles about his political rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

“This is an ILLEGAL ACTIVITY,” Trump wrote, urging the Department of Justice to investigate what he described as “blatant interference” in the upcoming election. He added, “If not, and subject to the Laws of our Country, I will request their prosecution, at the maximum levels, when I win the election.”

Trump’s remarks followed a report by a conservative group claiming that search results for “Donald Trump presidential race 2024” disproportionately featured negative stories about the former president.

In response to the accusations, Google insisted that both Trump’s and Harris’ campaign websites ranked prominently in searches and denied manipulating search results for political gain.

Trump is currently embroiled in multiple legal battles, including charges related to election interference and attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.
