The former Super Eagles head coach Clemens Westerhof received the keys to the flat and a certificate of occupancy from the Nigerian government on Thursday in Abuja in exchange for his team’s success at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Tunisia.

The home given to Clemens Westerhof is situated in the Prototype Housing Scheme in Gwagwalada, Abuja, while other beneficiaries were given the homes of their choosing in estates across the nation that were part of the National Housing Program.

The senior men national football team under Holland-born Westerhof won Nigeria’s second continental championship in 1994.

28 years later, the government’s presentation was made by Babatunde Fashola, minister of works and housing, who said it was evidence of the President Buhari-led administration’s commitment to making sure that Nigerians, regardless of time, who made sacrifices to uphold the nation’s good name are honored and motivated to continue working for the common good of all.
