Tunisia has declared a need for more external funding. In fact, double of the initial 2.5 billion Euro to about 5 billion Euros this year, due to impact of the new coronavirus pandemic, according to the country’s Prime Minister, Elyes Fakhfakh.
Tunisia has confirmed 1,032 cases of the coronavirus and 42 deaths from complications of the coronavirus. The infection is hampering the country’s vital tourism sector, which contributes nearly 10% of gross domestic product.
The economy is expected to shrink by 4.3% this year, the steepest contraction in more than 60 years.
