A Turkish Airlines pilot passed away after collapsing during a flight, leading to an emergency landing in New York, as reported by the airline on Wednesday.
According to airline spokesperson Yahya Ustun’s communication on X, previously known as Twitter, the aircraft departed from Seattle in the western US on Tuesday evening.
“The pilot of our Airbus 350 Flight TK204 from Seattle to Istanbul collapsed during the flight.”
“After an unsuccessful attempt to administer first aid, the flight crew, consisting of another pilot and a co-pilot, decided to make an emergency landing, but unfortunately, he passed away before the landing.” He added.
The 59-year-old pilot, who had been with Turkish Airlines since 2007, had undergone a medical examination in March, which did not reveal any health issues, as per Ustun’s statement.
