300 publishing houses from 20 countries are participating in the 36th International Book Fair in Tunisia
The fair which was postponed series of times due to the Covid-19 pandemic is taking place in Kerem Fair Palace in the Tunisian capital under the theme “Book is the best friend” and was opened by the Minister of Culture, Hayat Ketat al-Kermazi.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, the Director of the fair, Mabruk al-Menai, stated that reading is a tool for acquiring knowledge and books preserve knowledge over the years.
As every year, prominent and award-winning authors in the field of writing and literature have been announced.
Tunisian novelist Mohammed Isa al-Mueddib received awards in the novel, Tunisian writer Tariq al-Lemushi in fictional creativity, and Tunisian poet Seyyid et-Tiva in poetry.
The last of the Tunisian International Book Fair, which has been held annually since 1982, was held in April 2019 before the Covid-19 outbreak.
