Two Palestinian girls have died after a concrete wall from a house hit by Israeli warplanes collapsed in Gaza City, local authorities reported on Saturday.
A third child was injured in the collapse, which occurred while the children were playing near the house, said Salama Marouf, head of Gaza’s government media office, in a post on X.
“To prevent further loss of life, it is urgent to accelerate the entry of heavy machinery, fuel, and specialised technical teams to access rubble and assess partially destroyed homes,” Marouf urged.
Local authorities have stated that more than 500,000 homes have been damaged by Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

The airstrikes by Israeli authorities, which has resulted in over 48,000 deaths and over 111,000 injuries, paused on January 19, 2025, under a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
Palestinians have accused Israel of delaying the entry of shelter supplies and fuel into Gaza, claiming it violates the ceasefire terms. As part of the first phase of the agreement, about 600 aid trucks are scheduled to enter Gaza daily to alleviate the region’s severe humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing Israeli conflict.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the region.
