Two die as petrol tanker, fish truck collide in Osun State Nigeria

A collision between two trucks on Ife-Ibadan Expressway on Friday has killed no fewer than two lives.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened at Gbogan, Osun State around 11am.

Multiple witnesses claimed a petrol tanker and a truck ladened with fish collided at Gbogan town, starting a fire which burnt the two deaceased beyond recognition.

The deceased were said to have been in the fish truck.

The spokesperson for Federal Fire Service in Osun State, Adijat Basiri, confirmed that two lives were lost to the accident.

“At about 11:00am we received a distress call of a collision between a tanker of PMS and a truck of fish at Gbongan/Ife road resulting in fire outbreak,” she said.

“Our men immediately turned out to put the situation under control. There were two casualties involved basically from the fish truck.

“Further vehicle details unavailable for now. We had to ask for assistance and turn out two appliances.”
