Nova Pioneer Tatu City has been acknowledged in the Innovation category, while the Kakenya Center for Excellence in Enoosaen, Rift Valley, has been honoured for its outstanding Community Collaboration initiatives.
Founded by T4 Education in collaboration with Accenture, American Express, and the Lemann Foundation, these prizes are highly regarded in the global education sector.
Winners, who will share a prize fund of Sh6.4 million ($50,000), are selected by an expert judging academy.
The Kakenya Center for Excellence, a government-funded boarding school dedicated to empowering girls through education and leadership, has been commended for its efforts in challenging harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM).
Nova Pioneer Tatu City has been recognised for its commitment to equipping students with leadership and innovation skills, preparing them to shape the future.
Both schools have earned spots among the Top 10 finalists in their respective categories.
The World’s Best School Prizes was established in 2022 in response to the challenges posed by COVID-19, and aims to promote schools making a significant impact both within and beyond their classrooms.
Additionally, all 50 shortlisted schools participate in a public vote on the T4 Education website. The school with the most votes receives the Community Choice Award and membership to T4 Education’s Best School to Work programme.
“The school breaks harmful cultural norms by empowering girls through education, health, and leadership initiatives and tackling female genital mutilation, has been named in the Top 10 shortlist for the World’s Best School Prize for Community Collaboration,” a statement from T4 Education reads.
