Two South Koreans Kidnapped In Ghana

Two South Korea nationals have reportedly been kidnapped by yet-to-be-identified persons in Ghana.

South Korea’s foreign ministry, in a statement, said the duo were abducted from a Ghanaian-flagged fishing vessel which was attacked in waters two-hundred kilometres southeast of the coastal city Tema on Friday.

The pirates only abducted the two Koreans from among the 50 crewmen on board the vessel AP 703. They were said to have fled in the direction of neighbouring

In June, five South Korean sailors and a Ghanaian were abducted in waters off the Republic of Benin.

A total of 30 crew members were onboard the Ghanaian-flagged Panofi Frontier ship, but the kidnappers took off with only six people.

Also, another Korean national was released early in June, along with two Indonesians and three Senegalese, 37 days after the Korean was kidnapped by pirates off the coast of Gabon.

Three Korean sailors were abducted in seas off Ghana in March 2018.

They were released after 32 days.
