Six international applied technology schools specializing in retail, electronics, and AI will be created in Egypt through the Egyptian government partnerships with the United States.
The schools are part of the US government’s investment in Egypt’s education of approximately $1.7 billion (EGP 26.7 billion) over the past 40 years. The schools will foster innovation and creativity, promote an entrepreneurial culture, and link students to jobs in the private sector.
Egypt and the United States are upgrading technical education to meet the needs of the private sector as part of the government’s education strategy. The six new schools are part of the $70 million ‘Workforce Egypt Project’ which will prepare 100,000 students to enter the private sector in Egypt and around the world,” said US Ambassador Jonathan R. Cohen.
Afro Egypt, Deifallah Group, Elsewedy Electrometre, Fathalla Markets, Fresh Group, and Misr Insurance are partnering with Afro Egypt to establish the new schools in Sharqeya, Assiut, Alexandria, Giza, and Minya.
They are the first six of ten schools that the United States Government will help establish. Egyptian technical education can more effectively meet the needs of the labour market by working with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the private sector.
The US has invested $30 billion in Egypt through USAID since 1978 to support technical education in Egypt and engage with the private sector.
