Angolan President João Lourenço has met with the President of the United Arab Emirates UAE, Sheikh Mohamed to discuss the upcoming COP28 summit and bilateral cooperation. The two leaders explored opportunities for collaboration in investment, trade, renewable energy, and food security, with a focus on how these areas could benefit both countries and their people.
During the meeting, the presidents also exchanged views on a range of issues that were of mutual concern to them, including sustainability, climate action, and environmental protection. While discussing the upcoming COP28, to be hosted by the UAE later this year, the two leaders emphasised the importance that both countries place on addressing these global challenges.
The meeting was attended by high-level officials, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of the Presidential Court, and Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State.
According to sources from their respective governments, the discussions between the UAE and Angolan leaders were an important opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and identify areas for further collaboration. The meeting highlighted the importance that both countries place on sustainable development and addressing global challenges related to climate change and environmental protection.
The 2023 United Nations Climate Change otherwise known as COP28, will hold between November 30 to December 12, 2023.
