The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Golden Visa programme has introduced key updates for 2025, offering expanded opportunities for investors, entrepreneurs, skilled professionals, and outstanding students to secure long-term residency in the country. These changes aim to attract global talent and investment, allowing successful applicants to live, work, and study in the UAE without the need for a sponsor.
The visa, which is valid for five to ten years, ensures stability for individuals and families, enabling them to establish their future in the UAE. The program is open to a wide range of applicants, including those in the fields of business, technology, and education.
Among the most notable changes isthe Off-plan Property Investments. With this, individuals investing in properties under construction can now qualify for the visa by making a down payment of at least 50% or securing a bank guarantee for the remaining amount.
Another change is the eligibility for entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs with innovative ideas or those supported by approved incubators now qualify with a reduced minimum project value of AED 500,000.
Also, professionals, including PhD holders, doctors, engineers, and creatives, now have an easier application process if they have a valid work contract in the UAE.
Additionally, High school and university students with a GPA of 3.8 or higher are eligible and can sponsor their families, including parents and siblings.
Lastly, real estate investments must now be fully paid for without relying on loans to qualify.
Applicants must meet the following criteria based on their category:
- Investors: Minimum investment of AED 2 million in a UAE-approved fund or real estate.
- Entrepreneurs: Minimum project value of AED 500,000, with endorsements from approved business incubators or government bodies.
- Specialised Talents: PhD holders or professionals in key sectors such as AI and biotechnology, or creatives with government endorsements.
- Outstanding Students: A GPA of 3.8 or higher or high school graduates with a recommendation from the Ministry of Education.
Simplified Application Process
The Golden Visa application process is now streamlined for ease:
- Submit Nomination: Visit the ICP website to submit personal details.
- Upload Documents: Include passport copies, proof of investment or academic records, and health insurance.
- Pay Fees: Secure online payment for application fees.
- Receive Approval: Once approved, applicants will be invited to complete the visa process.
- Complete Residency Procedures: Includes biometric registration and a medical exam as required.
With these updates, the UAE Golden Visa program remains an attractive option for individuals seeking long-term residency and new opportunities in the UAE.
