Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), made an impromptu visit to Egypt on Sunday to meet with Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi for bilateral talks.

The two leaders emphasised the “need of unified Arab action and unity to address difficulties in the region,” according to a statement from Sisi’s administration.

According to the statement, the two sides also discussed ways to broaden their bilateral cooperation and “promising chances to strengthen their strategic alliance between the two countries.”

The two leaders urged for pursuing discussion and diplomacy to resolve crises and conflicts and discussed a variety of regional and global concerns, according to reports.

The length of the UAE president’s travel to Egypt was not disclosed.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has had a detrimental impact on the global economy, causing oil and gas prices to reach record highs and harming numerous nations.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Iraq Mustafa Al-Kadhimi will travel to Egypt today (Monday) to participate in an Arab summit that will be held in Alamain city in northern Egypt.

Al-Kadhimi will take part in a conference that will also feature the presidents of Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.

The most recent regional developments will be covered at the summit, particularly those involving the several economic cooperation agreements that Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, and Bahrain are parties to.

Through a tripartite cooperation framework, talks between the leaders of Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan as well as joint ministerial summits have been organised.
