AC Milan said on Monday that Christian Pulisic will miss their Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade due to a calf injury.
When Milan lost 2-1 to new league leaders Atalanta on Friday, Pulisic was substituted out in the first half with the score tied, citing a strained “soleus muscle of his right calf.”
In a week, more tests will be conducted, Milan, who play Red Star of Serbia on Wednesday, added.
Additionally, Pulisic, an attacker for the USA, will not play for Milan against struggling Genoa at home on Sunday in Serie A.
Pulisic is a vital component of Milan’s offence under Paulo Fonseca, having scored eight goals and assisted on five more in 20 appearances across all competitions this season.
With three victories in their past three Champions League games, Milan is currently ranked 16th in the league and 12 points behind Atalanta in Serie A after Friday’s loss.
