Liverpool supporters who purchased seats to the Paris 2022 Champions League final will receive a refund from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

It comes after a recent independent investigation concluded that UEFA is primarily responsible for the disorderly atmosphere leading up to the match against Real Madrid. Kickoff was postponed by 36 minutes while spectators were surrounded and gassed with tear gas outside of Paris’ Stade de France.

According to UEFA, the refund scheme covers all of the Liverpool FC 19,618 ticket allocations for the final. UEFA general secretary Theodore said, “We have taken into account a huge number of views expressed both publicly and privately and we believe we have devised a scheme that is comprehensive and fair.”

Due to the fact that supporters purchased tickets from Liverpool directly rather than from UEFA, the club will be in charge of handling refunds for their supporters.

Authorities in France and UEFA originally attributed the incidents outside the stadium to ticketless fans. The claims were not supported by any proof, according to the report that UEFA ordered following the final on May 28.
