At Uganda’s primary referral hospital Mulago in the country’s capital Kampala, nine more persons have tested positive for the Ebola virus. With this, there are now 14 positive cases at the isolation unit of the facility.

According to Kassanda, one of the most afflicted districts, health minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, contacts of a person who recently passed away at Mulago hospital are the positive cases. One family can count seven fresh positive instances. The other two are a physician and his wife.

The doctor handled one of the now-positive cases at a neighborhood clinic in a location not far from the metropolis.

As new cases are recorded in the capital on a regular basis, there is growing concern that the outbreak may become out of control.

The two most affected regions, Mubende and Kassanda, are still under quarantine, although the number of cases has risen.

In Kampala and the Entebbe region, health facilities were examined last week by officials to determine how prepared they were to manage Ebola patients.

More than a month has passed since the first reports of an epidemic of the Sudan strain of Ebola in central Uganda, in a rural area of the Mubende district.

According to official statistics, the country currently has 75 confirmed cases of Ebola, 28 of which have passed away. These numbers only reflect confirmed instances; they do not reflect deaths or likely cases.
